About Gears
Gears are probably one of the most common mechanical transmission parts around us every day. Gears are needed when creating a complex mechanical system. While the function itself is easy to understand, making a gear set that works is another thing. Prototype gears are often needed during new product development to prove the effectiveness of a system design. Moxperts can manufacture prototype gears or gear sets that adhere to strict customer requirements. Contact us for more details on your project needs.
Gears at Moxperts
Based on our rich gear manufacturing experience and supply chain, Moxperts has amassed an extensive range of gear production capabilities. Whether needed in big or small qty, we can provide a perfect prototyping solution from start to finish.
Spur Gear
The most common type of gear used in the mechanical system. These gears have equally spaced triangular-shaped teeth around the circumference of a circle.
Helical Gear
Helical gear is actually one type of spur gear with teeth that twist along the axis of the gear like a candy cane. It allows the teeth to engage more gradually and smoothly.
Bevel Gear
The bevel gear has teeth with a conical profile and meshes together at an angle.
Worm Gear
Worm gears employ a modified spur gear driven by a helical worm gear, which allows for high gear ratios with just two gears.
Planetary gears
With planetary gears, it is a great way to get a high gear ratio in a small amount of space with spur gears. In this kind of mechanical system, a sun gear driven by a motor is surrounded by several planet gears.
Precision Gear
Precision gears are often used in applications where extreme accuracy and precision are essential, including machine tools, robotics, aerospace, military, medical devices, food processing, printing, packaging industries.
Customized Gearbox
Moxperts can offer all kinds of gearboxes for the provided gears used in machines, industrial equipment, conveyors, and any other transmission applications.
Choose the Right Process
for Your Gears
As part of our manufacturing expertise, we can transform our customer’s designs and ideas into reality by engineering a product prototype, which allows our customer to test out their initial concepts before the final design and mass production.
We offer gear prototyping services to any customers looking to create either a new product or a modified assembly of the existing power transmission.
Gear Hobbing
Hobbing is a continuous machining process for cutting gears on a hobbing machine. The teeth or splines are progressively cut into the workpiece by a series of cuts made by a cutting tool called a hob, which is productive and provides good precision.
Gear Shaping
Gear shaping is a process used to make cluster gears or internal gears. The shaping tool is much like a gear but with cutting edges, rotated at the proper velocity ratio as it cuts into the gear blank.
Gear Milling
Milling, one of the most versatile machining methods, is flexible and straightforward, is suitable for small and medium batch production of gears. It can be used to create almost any type of helical gear.
EDM
Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is an excellent process to cut complex geometries of gears at different sizes. With the help of high quality and intuitive 3D modelling software, we can produce high-quality gears.
3D Printing
For some gear prototypes, the mechanical performance of the gear is not very high, and it does not carry a load but only plays a role of simple transmission. 3D printing gear prototypes can be a good solution.
Powder metallurgy
Powder metallurgy is a high-precision forming method to make small-sized gears. Compared with traditional machine-finished steel and cast iron gears, it is more cost-effective.
